Around 99,000 new automobiles, registered in Romania, in 11 months, almost 5 times more

The number of new car registrations in Romania reached around 99,000 units in the first eleven months, up 14.64 percent as compared to the same period of 2016, while the number of second-hand cars reached 474,487 units, the equivalent of a 71 pct leap as against the benchmark range, as evidenced by statistics with the Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration Directorate (DRPCIV), researched by Agerpres.

According to the quoted source, January through November, the first three places in terms of used car registrations are held by Volkswagen, with 124,533 units ((+58.04 pct compared to January-November 2016), Opel (58,934, +31,55 pct) and Ford (46,838 units, +51.70 pct).

On the other hand, on the segment of new cars, of the total of 98,116 units, most registrations were recorded for Dacia – 27,424 units (+9,79 pct year-over-year), Volkswagen (9,050 units, +21.53 pct) and Skoda (8,439 units, +6.62 pct).

End-2016, as many as 3.036 million motor vehicles equipped with diesel engines were running on Romania’s national roads (of which 2.119 million automobiles) whereas 3.586 million motor vehicles equipped with gasoline engines, of which 3.339 million were automobiles.
