National Tango Day celebrated at the official Residence of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic

On December 11th, the National Tango Day was celebrated at the official Residence of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic. On this occasion, a reception had been organized, event in which participated around 100 persons representing the tango community in Bucharest, Argentine residents in Romania, members of the Diplomatic Corps, as well as Romanian cultural personalities.

This event had been inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Ambassador Felipe Alvarez de Toledo, who delivered a short speech, underscoring the importance of tango in the Argentine and Uruguayan culture, and as creation of a bridge between the two countries.
Professional dancers from different Romanian schools of tango and the Argentinean singer living in Romania, Marthin Marcos, captivated the audience with his voice and his passion.

Traditional Argentine dishes, such as empanadas, Argentine lomito and chorizo sandwiches accompanied by the traditional “chimichurri” sauce and the famous Argentine wine – Malbec – had been offered to the audience.

For 40 years, in Argentina the National Tango Day has been celebrated every December 11th, this date being proposed in tribute to Carlos Gardel, who had been born on December 11 and who, with his music and voice, has become the greatest representative of the River Plate (“Rioplatense“) tango all over the world.
