Romanian Academy: Greater Union Centennial – good opportunity to talk about Romania and be happy together

The Greater Union Centennial represents a good opportunity to talk about Romania, to be happy together, all Romanians, regardless of where they are today, of the success of a political project, whose promoters should be paid a proper homage, a release of the Office of the Romanian Academy Presidium sent to AGERPRES on Thursday informs.

“1 December 1918 is a good opportunity to be happy together, all Romanians, regardless of where they are today, of the success of a political project, whose promoters should be paid a proper homage. It was the astral moment of this nation, that tops an ample, sophisticated political project, which was carried out with exactness, no matter the circumstances. It was a success. Starting with the ’30s, Romania entered on an upward trend in its social-economic development, but precisely when it expected to harvest the fruits of the colossal political and economic effort for the Union,” the quoted source says in the document titled “the Romanian Academy and the Greater Union Centennial.”

According to the Academy, “the Centennial represents a good opportunity to talk about Romania, the Romania which we inherited from our grandfathers, the Romania which we are building today and the Romania that we will leave as legacy to our children and grandchildren.”

“The Romanian Academy is perfectly aware that the Centennial is not and cannot be exclusively about the past. The Centennial is about Romania’s present and about its future. Our ancestors’ performance of 1 December 1918 becomes the mirror that we place today before us and, in comparison to what we see in the mirror, we compare ourselves, we, the people of toady, and our present and future projects.
