Call for Entries Spotlight 2018 Spotlight Video Mapping Contest. Artists to transform again the way Bucharest looks this April, during Bucharest International Light Festival

From the 12th to the 15th of April, Spotlight – Bucharest International Light Festival transforms, for the fourth year in a row, one of Bucharest most important avenues, Calea Victoriei, into an open air exhibition of light installations.

In partnership with Berlin Festival of Lights, Spotlight 2018 brings to Bucharest a series of multimedia projects that combine latest generation technics to artistic content, emotion and storytelling, announce event organizers, Bucharest City Hall and ARCUB.

Local, national and international artists are invited to submit proposals for Spotlight Video Mapping Contest focusing on the festival theme for 2018: “United We Shine”. For the first time in the history of the festival, one of the most emblematic buildings of Bucharest, CEC Palace will be completely transformed by the most innovative 3D video mapping artworks submitted to this year’s Spotlight Call for Entries.

A top six of competition proposals will be selected by a jury of specialists, and will be projected onto the CEC Palace all throughout the festival period. The winner of the Spotlight 2018 Video Mapping Contest will be chosen via an online public vote.

Inspired by the celebration of 100 years since the Great Union in Romania, the video mapping projections theme for this year’s Spotlight competition is „United We Shine”. The ideas submitted should emphasize the notion of solidarity, and furthermore explore the connection arisen between people and cities, between different cultures and ethnicity, facades and art, darkness and light.

Connecting people to the city, history to technology, the past to the future, as well as art to urban rhythm, Spotlight invites artists from all over the world to use one of Bucharest most famous buildings as their means for expressing their own vision on unity, team spirit, and solidarity.

The deadline for submissions is February 9th. The six finalist video mappings that will be shown on the CEC Palace will be each rewarded with a 3.000 € prize. The first place will be chosen via public vote, from the finalist projects, and will receive an additional 5.000 € award.
