Alexandrion Foundation announces the organization of the Alexandrion Trophy Gala for the third year in a row. The distinctions and the financial rewards offered at the event are dedicated to the sportsmen who achieved outstanding performances in 2017 and represent the only event of its kind fully organized and supported by a private entity. The awarding ceremony, during which the 10 trophies will be granted, will be held on February 1 in Bucharest, in the presence of more than 300 guests.
Alexandrion Trophies are meant to reward the excellent results in sports, as well as to help sportsmen to draw attention on the huge needs in this field, requiring a steady and more active involvement of the state and the private environment.
Alexandrion Trophies are annually granted by the Alexandrion Foundation after consulting more than 20 Romanian sports editors, as well as competent public institutions. The winners are selected taking into account the national and international successes of the sportsmen.
The involvement of the Alexandrion Foundation in supporting sports is not limited to such distinctions only. Boxing, golf, polo or cycling are also sports that are supported by Alexandrion Foundation. Also, the Foundation didn’t forget the football, handball or rugby teams, which benefit from its support.
In the previous editions, 20 Trophies have been already granted. Some of their winners are: Marian Dragulescu (gymnastics), Elizabeta Samara and Daniela Dodean (table tennis), Simona Halep (lawn tennis), Horia Tecau (lawn tennis), Anghel Iordanescu (soccer), Tiberiu Dolniceanu (epee), Ana Maria Branza (fencing), Cristina Neagu (handball), Cristiana Stancu (martial arts) and Andreea Chitu (judo), the Romania’s 8+1 canoeing team that won bronze at the Olympic Games in 2016, Alexandru Bologa (judo), the members of the sword women team in 2016, Simona Gherman, Simona Pop, Ana-Maria Popescu and Loredana Dinu, Oana Manea (handball), the couple Horia Tecau/Florin Mergea (lawn tennis) – Vice Champs at the Olympic Games. Catalina Ponor (gymnastics), Albert Saritov (wrestling).
Alexandrion Trophies are a premiere in Romania, part of the Foundation’s strategy to support excellence and performance in sports. At the same time, the Foundation is one of the most active supporters of the Romanian culture, annually awarding cultural personalities that are famous or at the beginning of their career, through the two galas that it organizes – the Constantin Brancoveanu Awards Gala and the Matei Brancoveanu Awards Gala.
