Basescu’s request on maintaining the Moldovan citizenship has been rejected

Chisinau Court has rejected, on Monday, the request of the former Romanian President Traian Basescu on the annulment of the decree withdrawing the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova signed by Igor Dodon, according to Unimedia and Deschide.md.

Traian Basescu can appeal the decision within 30 days.

Basescu’s lawyer claims that the decision to withdraw the citizenship was a political one.

Later, after Igor Dodon became the President of the Republic of Moldova, he signed the decree withdrawing Traian Basescu’s citizenship.
