BNR’s forex reserves up 0.01% to 33.498 bn euros, in January

The National Bank of Romania’s (BNR) forex reserves stood at 33.498 billion euros on January 31, 2018 compared to 33.494 billion euros on December 31, 2017, up by 0.01% compared to December, according to a BNR release issued on Thursday .

During the month, the following operations took place: inflows of 1.272 billion euro, representing the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency constituted by the credit institutions, the feeding of the accounts of the Ministry of Public Finance, the feeding of the European Commission account and others; outflows of 1.268 billion euros, representing the change in the minimum foreign currency reserves constituted by credit institutions, interest rate and installment payments for foreign currency denominated government debt and others.

According to the BNR, the gold reserve remained at 103.7 tonnes. In terms of international price variations, its value stood at 3.597 billion euros.

According to the BNR, the payments due in February 2018 in the account of the public debt denominated in foreign currency, direct or guaranteed by the Ministry of Public Finance, amount to some 177 million euros.
