The members of the Berarii Romaniei (Brewers of Romania) Association elected Lucian Ghinea, the General Manager of Bergenbier SA, a company which is part of the Molson Coors Group, as their President. Thus, starting from January 1, 2018, Lucian Ghinea took the new attributions within the Association from Shachar Shaine, the President of United Romanian Breweries Bereprod (URBB), who was the President of the organization in 2017.
“I am honored to take over the position of the President of the Brewers of Romania Association for the second time in three years” stated Lucian Ghinea, the President of the Brewers of Romania. “I am starting this new mandate with the determination to continue the projects developed by the Association, which are fully oriented to the sustainable development of the sector and beer culture in Romania. As for the expectations for the current year, I hope in a positive evolution of the beer market. However, the experience of the previous years proved us that an upward trend in the beer market is possible only if the efforts of the local brewers are complemented by the economic and fiscal stability and predictability” Lucian Ghinea added.
With a zero level of the tax evasion, the beer production continues to be one of the important factors in generating economic growth across the country, particularly due to its profoundly national nature: over 97 percent of the beer consumed in Romania is produced locally, while over 70 percent of the agricultural raw materials used to produce beer come from Romania. As an immediate result of this, 85,000 jobs were directly and indirectly generated by the beer sector across the country.
“I wish to than to Mister Shachar Shaine, the President of the Association in 2017, for his constant contribution in successfully running the activity of the Association in a year with so many challenges for the local beer market” Lucian Ghinea added.
Lucian Ghinea currently is the General Manager of Bergenbier SA, a Molson Coors company. He is working since 12 years within the Group of which the Bergenbier SA Company is part, with a break of one year and a half during the period 2008-2009. He has a vast experience in the Romanian beer industry, as well as in the FMCG and retail fields, since he worked in business consultancy.
