PM Dancila announces he will meet some European officials in Brussels on February 20 and 21

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced that she is going to pay a visit to Brussels on February 20-21, where she will meet with some European officials.

The head of the Government made the announcement after she specified she was not invited to participate in last week’s debate in the European Parliament, focusing on the Justice system in Romania.

“I was not invited to Brussels. I will go to Brussels on 20-21 this month. I will meet the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Parliament, and I will address this aspect, for, in my opinion, Mr. Tudorel Toader should have been allowed to speak, for he knew best all the details. Let’s not forget that he is a member of the Venice Commission and he is very well prepared, so that he would have answered to all the questions that created concern in Brussels,” stated Dancila, at the Social Democratic Party (PSD) headquarters.

Moreover, the Prime Minister specified that she was a MEP and she knows how certain people “misinform.”

“There is this problem they have there, which is easy to see. I have been a MEP for nine years and I know that there are certain people who misinform. For me, the worst thing is – something that I already mentioned back when I was a MEP – the fact that we always make from Romania the talk of the other states, while the other states don’t do such a thing,” said Dancila.

She also showed that while some persons were trying “to defend their country” during the debate, others “were throwing mud.”

“That was a debate where some people were trying to defend their country, while others were throwing mud, as they have done for many years,” claimed Dancila.

The head of the Executive also specified that she would have wanted the debate be a “punctual” one, with questions addressed directly to the Minister of Justice, who was able to provide give precise answers. “And we wouldn’t have had all these accusations and fights between Romanians, which hurt our country’s image,” stated Dancila.
