Paul Stanescu: I won’t be running for any office during PSD Congress

Deputy Premier Paul Stanescu stated on Friday, in Slatina, that he will not run for any leadership office during the party congress that might take place in March.

Paul Stanescu stated he is no longer interested in the office of Vice President either, so he will not enter the race.

“Even if elections for Vice Presidents take place during the party congress, I won’t run for any office, not just not for the office of President. I don’t believe someone will resign. The Vice Presidents are elected by the party congress, resignation is a unilateral act,” Stanescu, who is president of the PSD Olt branch, stated.

In what concerns the situation of Executive President Nicolae Badalau, PSD’s number two man, who has distanced himself from Liviu Dragnea by backing Mihai Tudose, Stanescu said Badalau might keep his office.

“I believe Mr Badalau will stay. He is the Acting Executive President, he’s not elected by the Conference but was named by the National Executive Committee. It’s his decision whether to resign from this office. Mr Zgonea was Executive President elected by the congress,” Paul Stanescu added.

PSD President Liviu Dragnea announced last Wednesday that an extraordinary party congress will take place in March.
