Chamber of Deputies’ Speaker to send letter to National Bank’s governor on 4.3% inflation rate in January 2018

The Chamber of Deputies’ Speaker Liviu Dragnea said on Tuesday he would send a letter to the Governor of the National Bank, Mugur Isarescu, on inflation, to which he expects answers.

Asked about the fact that Romania recorded the highest inflation in recent years, namely 4.3% in January, Dragnea replied: “It is good to ask also the National Bank.”

“I will send a letter to the governor, with some points of view gathered from several specialists and from me, and I want to receive some answers. I do not want to talk now because it is a very important topic. I want to see also which the involvement of the National Bank was, because it is a very important issue,” Dragnea said.

Also, asked if the National Bank was allegedly guilty of this, the Chamber’s Speaker replied: “God forbid, no, but there must be some answers.”
