CNCD has decided that Viorica Dancila didn’t discriminate when she called “autistic” certain MEPs

The Board of Directors of the National Council Combating Discrimination has decided on Monday that PM Viorica Dancila didn’t discriminate when she compared MEPs with autistic people, the vote being 7 to 1, the only con belonging to the CNCD President Csaba Asztalos, according to sources quoted by Hotnews.

The CNCD Board has decided that the statement “falls within the limits of the freedom of expression and is not a discrimination”. Also, the lack of intervention of the moderator of the TV show is not a discrimination.

The hearings at the National Council Combating Discrimination (CNCD) on the statements made by Viorica Dancila, who described those who “misinform EU despite the fact that they know the truth” as “autistic” people, were held on February 20, in her absence, and they were going to be continued this week, on Tuesday, at Mihai Gadea’s request, in whose TV show the PM made the statements in question.

“Today’s hearings ended, PM hasn’t attended them. They will continue next week, namely on Tuesday, February 27, after Mihai Gadea asked a new hearing” the CNDCD President Asztalos Csaba stated for News.ro at that time.

Two weeks ago, PM Viorica Dancila stated at Antena 3 that she want to have a transparent approach with the European leaders and that Monica Macovei did a lot of harm to Romania by her behavior and by “denouncing her own country” in the European Parliament, asking to be judged by other 27 countries in the matter of the Laws on Justice. PM described those who “misinform EU, despite the fact that they know the truth”, as “autistic” people.

The President of the Autism Europa Bistrita Association, Ana Dragu, criticized PM Viorica Dancila’s statement in a Facebook post, saying that her post can be considered as a complaint to the National Council Combating Discrimination, in order to take the measures required by the law in such case.

Next day, PM Viorica Dancila apologized by a press release, for her statement, and on the same day, CNCD announced that it will organize her hearing on February 20. CNCD mentioned that the moderator of the TV show, Mihai Gadea, will also be summoned in this case.
