Former head of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) George Maior said on Tuesday that he has impeccably done his job as SRI director and that his actions had always complied with the law.
Maior reported on Tuesday to the SRI oversight parliamentary committee for a hearing.
“I consider that I have very well done my duty as director of the Romanian Intelligence Service. The Service has grown into one of the most respected institutions in the western intelligence community and not only. I consider that I have always acted in the spirit of the law. No accusation has been proven,” Maior said before the hearing, adding that it’s “SRI that conveys intelligence, not the agency’s head, the information is put together by the Service.”
“I came in good faith to answer all questions,” Maior completed.
On February 2 George Maior, who currently serves as Romania’s ambassador to the US, met at the Parliament with head of the SRI oversight parliamentary committee Claudiu Manda.
