Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Tuesday welcomed Spain’s Ambassador in Bucharest Ramiro Fernandez Bachiller, to discuss the concrete modalities to relaunch the bilateral political dialogue, to make the sectoral cooperation more dynamic, in the perspective of organising the joint government meeting, the Executive points out in a release.
According to the release, the two officials voiced satisfaction for the “excellent” bilateral relation, confirmed by the Strategic Partnership. A special attention was granted to diversifying the economic relations, the value of commercial exchanges between Romania and Spain reaching in 2017 a record level of almost 4 billion euro, according to the Government.
PM Dancila reiterated the interest in drawing Spanish investments in Romania, in areas such as road and energy infrastructure, auto industry, tourism, the hotel and agri-food industry, the banking area, IT&C. Also evoked was the Romanian-Spanish cooperation in the administrative reform, internal affairs, labour and social protection areas, as well as gender equality promotion and family and child protection, the Government release informs.
Dancila voiced her appreciation for the special support Spain granted in the education area in the ten years of teaching Romanian in Spanish schools. In this context, it was highlighted the excellent level of high schools with Spanish teaching in Romania, and the upcoming opening in the near future of new such schools in Constanta and Vaslui was mentioned.
Referring to the Romanian community in Spain, the second largest Romanian community abroad, PM Dancila thanked for the support that the Spanish authorities grant to the integration process. The PM and the Spanish diplomat analysed projects meant to contribute to the enlargement of the bilateral cooperation in the labour and internal affairs area.
According to the release, the cooperation on an European level was also evoked, as Romania and Spain have close visions in several important files, as well as the openness to consolidate collaboration in this area in the perspective of Romania’s exerting the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2019.
At the end of the meeting, PM Dancila appreciated the Spanish Ambassador’s good knowledge of Romanian, “a reflection of the common cultural heritage of the two countries,” the Government’s release points out.
