Romania is present at the 9th edition of the Francophone Film Festival of Rome

The Romanian Cultural Institute and Accademia di Romania in Rome, in cooperation with the Romanian Embassy in the Republic of Italy, support Romania’s participation in the 2018 edition of the Francophone Film Festival of Rome through the screening of the movie “Ana, mon amour” directed by Calin Peter Netzer.

“Ana, mon amour” is the analysis of a love story, an atypical journey surprising the most tense and delicate moments in a couple’s evolution. Toma and Ana know each other since they were students, they quickly become close to one another and start a love relationship which soon becomes a struggle against everybody. Because of some childhood problems, Ana has frequent panic attacks and Toma assumes the role of her unconditional protector. Although he seems to have the control on the relationship, years later he finds himself gravitating around a woman he cannot understand, forcing himself to the limit in his attempt to save her.

The Romanian director and screenwriter Calin Peter Netzer is already known to the international public thanks to his movie “Child’s Pose”, who won the Golden Bear at the 63rd Berlinale in 2013.

The screening of the movie “Ana, mon amour” will take place on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 9.00 PM, at the French Institute in Rome – Largo Toniolo 21/22, with the participation of the protagonist Mircea Postelnicu and of the screenwriter Cezar Paul-Badescu. The screening will be in Romanian and subtitled in Italian. The access is free, within the free seats limit.

The 9th edition of the FrancoFilm Festival gathers the film industry on 4 continents from March 12 to 21, through 16 features participating in the competition, 20 screenings and 5 meetings with directors and actors. The event is organized with the support of the diplomatic representations in Italy of the member countries and of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF).
