19,700 Romanian employees of Continental are working for the future of the automotive industry

Continental has reached to 19,700 employees in Romania. 1,500 people have joined the team in 2017 on various positions, both in the engineering centers and in the production units. They are working on the trends of the automotive industry: autonomous driving, electrification and connectivity.

“The Continental company is present in Romania with all its five divisions. A wide range of cars are equipped with electronic equipment, tires and ContiTech products, such as transmission belts and ventilation and air conditioning pipes produced in Romania. We are focused on the most relevant technological areas in the automotive industry, including rubber materials for tires, electrification, connectivity and automatic, respectively autonomous driving. More than 5,700 engineers and IT specialists are working in our R&D centers. With innovative ideas, with new modalities to promote cooperation in this field and with a long-term vision in the automotive industry, Continental is ready for the future” stated Dr. Christian von Albrichsfeld, the General Manager of Continental in Romania.

The concern has made investments of more than EUR 175 million in 2017, in its premises in Romania. The company has invested in infrastructure, equipment and state-of-the-art technology for its R&D centers, as well as for the production units.

“Continental is growing continuously, developing technologies in line with the trends of the market. This will help the company to continue growing also in 2018. The team from Romania helps in finding innovative solutions for smart cities. Romanian engineers are working in a constantly moving sector, we are connected to our clients and we grow together. Through the software and new trends and methods such as digitalization, cloud, big data, artificial intelligence, the company creates living products which are customizable and adaptable to the needs of the whole industry” pointed out Dr. Christian von Albrichsfeld.

The Continental company annually produces in its plants from Romania more than 150 million units for the automotive industry. The innovative solutions and products have a significant contribution to the automatic driving and the safe mobility on the road.

“In 2017, we hired 1,500 new colleagues who are now part of the big Continental family. In 2018, we are planning to increase the team by more than 1,000 people, in jobs related to software and IT & C, electric and mechanical engineering, process engineering, production operators. We aim for future colleagues with a level of experience starting from young professionals to people with a medium level of experience and to the experts. Here, at Continental, we believe that values create value, and this is why we are deeply focused on growing our team’s members, providing various options to develop their career. For 2018, an investment at a comparable level with the one of the previous year is planned. The company will invest in developing people, in the infrastructure of the premises and in state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.
