MAI has started the public tender proceedings in order to renews its car fleet

MAI has started the public tender proceedings in order to purchase several vehicles, including police cars, intervention cars and patrol cars, buses motorcycles and utility vans, the total investment amounting to more than RON 100 million.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has started the proceedings for the procurement of special cars for its structures, the announcement related to organizing a public tender in order to conclude a framework agreement for the provision of cars with specific endowment, utility vans, cars, buses and motorcycles necessary to conduct our operative work in good conditions, being published in SEAP on March 16. For each of the 20 lots of vehicles mentioned in the announcement on the organization of the public tender, quarterly subsequent agreements will be concluded, with the maximum delivery deadline on November 30, 2018” the MAI representatives mentioned in a press release.

They also pointed out that several hundreds of cars will be purchased. “Given the available amount of money, we will purchase at least 700 police cars, 140 intervention and patrol cars, 3 buses, 135 cars for the operative work, 35 special cars for the transport of the detained people, 35 motorcycles with specific endowment for the police activity, 90 cars for the specific activity of the Border Police. The following criteria have been taking into account when allocating the lots: the weight of the deficit and the need for the structure, the technical condition and the age of the car fleet, as well as the endowment priorities of the structures dealing with the economic-financial or judicial criminality (especially those who come in direct contact with the citizen), to ensure the mobility of structures with attributions in order to ensure public order and peace. At present, out of the total number of vehicles provided in the supply tables of the MAI structures 53.7% of the means of transport are provided. 25% of them have a service life of between 5 and 10 years” according to MAI.

According to the quoted source, this is the first step taken this year in order to improve the work conditions for the employees, other investments going to be made in the protective equipment or for the restoration of certain premises, including police stations.

“The deadline for receiving bids or participation requests is May 3, 2018, at 16:00, and the deadline for the evaluation of the bids is August 31, 2018, at 18:00. The duration of the agreement is six months and the value is between RON 85,394,316.96 and RON 100,818,781.75, without VAT. The award criterion is the lowest price” MAI also mentions.
