The postage stamp issue “100 Years Since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania ” was launched on Tuesday in Parliament, during the solemn joint sitting for the celebration of the Centennial Union of Bessarabia with Romania.
According to a press release of Romfilatelia sent to AGERPRES, the postage stamps feature three personalities who facilitated the accomplishment of this national ideal.
The stamp with the face value of 4 lei illustrates the portrait of Alexandru Marghiloman, Prime Minister of Romania’s Gov’t in March 1918, while the portrait of Ion Inculet, then President of the Country Council in Chisinau is illustrated on the stamp with the face value of 8 lei.
The stamp of the perforated special edition stamps, with a face value of 16 lei features the portrait of Country Council Vice-President Pantelimon Halippa, fighter for the rights of Romanians in the Tzars’ Empire.
The issue, available starting with Tuesday in the Romfilatelia’s stores in Bucharest, Bacau, Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara, and in the online store http://romfilatelia.ro/store/, is completed by a first day cover and as paper, the 32-stamp paper, the 5-stamp + 1 vignette and the perforated special edition stamps were used.
