The head of DNA Ploiesti, heard by the Judicial Inspection

Chief-Prosecutor Lucian Onea from the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) Ploiesti gave explanations in the scandal of the recordings revealed by the former PSD MP Vlad Cosma. After receiving the former MP’s complaint, Judicial Inspection (IJ) decided to start a disciplinary investigation related to prosecutors Lucian Onea and Alfred Savu from DNA Ploiesti, as well as to the former prosecutor Mircea Negulescu; there are 10 cases pending at the above mentioned institution, related to their conduct.

“Appreciating that there are clues on committing disciplinary misconduct, the judicial inspectors decided in one case to start the disciplinary investigation related to prosecutors Onea Lucian Gabriel, Savu Alfred and Negulescu Mircea. (…) We inform you that there are 10 cases identified as pending at the Judicial inspection, in the preliminary checks stage, related to the activity or the conduct of the prosecutors from the National Anticorruption Directorate – the Ploiesti Territorial Service” stated officials of the Judicial Inspection for MEDIAFAX.

The quoted source also mentioned that at the end of the disciplinary investigation, depending on the result of the checks, the judicial inspectors may decide wither to accept the complaint by exercising the disciplinary action and notifying the Department for Prosecutors on Disciplinary Matters of the Superior Council of Magistracy, or to reject the complaint if they appreciate that the requirements for exercising the disciplinary action are not met.

The inspectors’ investigation is conducted as a result of the fact that there are several people who claimed that false statements were asked to them; some of them presented recordings with the magistrates from Ploiesti.

On March 20, former MP Vlad Cosma came to the Judicial Inspection to submit new evidence against the four prosecutors of DNA Ploiesti.

“I was summoned for this morning. I will continue the series of the statements that I started… I think the ladies and gentlemen from here want to ask me several questions in order to clarify the situation. As usually, I am prepared with documents. There are some documents that supplement the picture I presented. There are statements of several people who have experienced abuses (…) in order to prove all these abuses of the last three or four years. (…) We see that they started to stop these phenomena in the Prahova County, which is a good thing” Vlad Cosma (photo) stated.
