Bucharest Stock Exchange’s main index reaches second-highest value in past 11 years

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB)’s main index reached on Thursday at noon the second-highest value in the past 11 years, according to the data of the capital market operator.

Thus, the BET index climbed to 8,812 points, up 0.64% from the closing value of Wednesday. The highest level in the last 11 years was recorded on March 16, when the level was 8,816 points.

The value of the stock transactions on the BVB’s main segment increased by 28.5% in the first quarter of this year compared to the similar period in 2017, to over 3.51 billion lei, show the data of the capital market operator.

Almost all the stock indices in Romania have risen by more than 10% since the beginning of the year, and BET, which shows the evolution of the 13 most traded companies on the regulated market of the BVB, has climbed 12.39%.
