President Iohannis notifies CCR on law amending Govt’ ordinance on fishing and aquaculture

President Klaus Iohannis sent to Romania’s Constitutional Court on Thursday, a non-constitutionality notification regarding the Law approving the Government Emergency Ordinance No.85/2016 for the supplementation and amendment of the Gov’t Emergency Ordinance No.23/2008 regarding fishing and aquaculture, believing that the normative act breaches several provisions of the Constitution.

“We believe that both the manner in which it was adopted and through its normative content, this law breaches the provisions of article 1, paragraph (5), article 15, paragraph (2), article 44, paragraph (1)-(3), art. 45 corroborated with article 135, article 73 paragraph (3) letter h) and m) in relation to article 76 paragraph (1) of the Constitution, as well as those of article 75 paragraph (3) of the Constitution,” the notifications sent to President of the CCR Valer Dorneanu reads.

The Law adopting the Government Emergency Ordinance No.85/2016 for the supplementation and amendment of the Gov’t Emergency Ordinance No.23/2008 regarding fishing and aquaculture was sent by Parliament to President Iohannis for promulgation on 21 March
