The most important event dedicated to the film industry in the Western China starts on Thursday, April 12, in Bucharest.
The opening ceremony of the “Western China Film’s Week”, an event organized by the “Silk Road” International Film Festival (SRIFF) will be held starting at 20.00 at the Eforie Cinema from Bucharest.
The event will be attended by an important Chinese delegation, including the Honorary President of SRIFF, Zhuang Changxing, who is also the Director of the Standing Propaganda Department of the Shaanxi Province; the Vice President of SRIFF and the Director of the Radio, Film and Television Administration of the Shaanxi Province, Mr. Wang Fubao; the General Secretary of SRIFF and the Director of the Film Department of the Radio, Film and Television Administration of the Shaanxi Province, Mr. Shan Zixiao; the Deputy General Executive Director of Western Movie Group Co., Ltd, Zhao Ping; the international liaison officer of SRIFF and the Executive Director of Sunnyway Film, Duan Peng.
For 4 days, people in Bucharest can watch the most important productions “Made in China”, movies that are appreciated by the Asian audience and by the film criticists from all over the world.
“The Western China Film’s Week” will be opened by the movie “Hunting Dog” directed by Jianhua Liu, casting Hong Huang, Xiangjing Liu and Tao Sun. The movie’s premiere in Romania will take place in the presence of the director and of the actress Zhao Tingting.
“Hunting Dog” is the winner of the “Best Feature” Trophy at the 3rd edition of the “Silk Road” International Film Festival; it also won the “Silver Award” at the 41st edition of the Montreal International Film Festival, the Chinese Film Section, and the “Golden Angel” Trophy at the 13th edition of the Chinese American Film Festival.
The access to the event is free, within the limit of the available seats.
Also, a Strategic Partnership Agreement will be signed with the Transilvania International Film Festival at the opening Gala; the TIFF Director Tudor Giurgiu will be also present at this event.
“We are glad that the list of friends of the Transilvania International Film Festival is getting bigger and bigger and more and more diverse, and that starting from this year, the ‘Silk Road’ International Film Festival is one of them. We believe that this strategic partnership may increase the visibility of the Romanian film abroad, and at the same time, it can generate new opportunities for the young filmmakers of both of the countries” Tudor Giurgiu stated.
The general objective of the agreement is to encourage communication and collaboration between Romania and China in terms of the production and distribution of the cinematographic projects, as well as to explore the common learning and development opportunities within the industry.
“The Western China Film’s Week” will continue during the weekend at the Union Cinema. The movies “Crested Ibis” (directed by Liang Qiao), “Song of the Phoenix” (directed by Tianming Wu), “Born in China” (directed by Lu Chuan), and “Kung Fu Yoga” (directed by Stanley Tong) will be screened from Friday to Sunday.
