Lithuanian Embassy organizes tree planting ceremony, 100 new oaks added in Bucharest Tineretului Park

Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bogdan Moisii attended a tree-planting ceremony that saw 100 new oaks added in the Bucharest Tineretului (Youth) Park, the Foreign Ministry said in a release on Thursday.

Attending the event organized by the Lithuanian Embassy in Romania, with the support of the Romanian authorities, were Speaker of the Parliament of Lithuania Viktoras Pranckietis, Bucharest Mayor Gabriela Firea, Mayor of Bucharest Sector 4 Daniel Baluta, officials of the Ministry of Waters and Forests, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Bucharest.

The ceremony marked 100 years since the Restoration of an Independent State of Lithuania and the Centennial of the Great Union of Romania.

“On this occasion, the Romanian and Lithuanian officials stressed that the action of planting 100 new trees is suffused with the symbolism of the endurance though time of both the Romanian and Lithuanian nation, and of the friendship that connects the two states,” the Foreign Ministry said in the release.
