Those who want to see “jewels” on wheels, namely vintage cars that are perfectly working, will have this opportunity at the end of this week, when a new Retro Spring Parade edition is scheduled. The events are scheduled to take place on April 21and 22, 2018, in 26 Romanian cities.
Keeping the tradition, Retromobil Club Romania organizes a new edition of the event Retro Spring Parade. This year’s event will be of the kind of the previous ones, meaning that the vintage car owners from most of the counties of Romania will exhibit various brands of cars which, despite they are old for several decades, they look like real “jewels” on wheels; not to mention that they are still working. The events will take place in 26 cities, being scheduled over two days. Most of them, 21 events, are scheduled on Saturday, April 21, and the rest of them are scheduled on April 22. As announced by the organizers, the program of the Retro Spring Parade 2018 will be as follows: April 21 – Bucharest – The “Lumea Copiilor” Park (from 10.00 to12.00); Alba Iulia – Horea’s Obelisk – Gate III (from 11.00 to13.00); Arad –Avram Iancu Square (from 10.00 to13.00); Bacau – Tricolor Square (from 10.0 to 13.00); Baia Mare –Libertatii Square (from 9.00 to12.00); Basov – Sfatului Square (from 10.00 to 14.00); Cluj Napoca – Unirii Square (from 9.30 to 11.30) – Parking Univers T (from 12.00 to 13.30); Constanta – Ovidiu Square (from 12.00 to 14.00); Craiova – Elecroputere Mall (from 10.00 to 12.00); Galati – Ferry Pass (from 9.30 to 14.30); Hunedoara – Corvin Castle (from 10.00 to 14.00); Pitesti – City Hall Square (from 10.00 to 13.00); Ploiesti – Ploiesti Shopping City (from 10.00 to 13.00); Oradea – Unirii Square (from 11.00 to 15.00); Ramnicu Valcea – Shopping City (from 10.00 to 13.00); Sibiu – Small Square (from 9.00 to 13.00) – Orlat – Maria Theresa Mansion (at 14.00); Sighet – the Old Downtown (from 14.00 to 18.00); Targoviste –Tricolor Square (from 11.00 to 13.00); Targu Mures – Citadel Square (from 10.00 to 13.00); Timisoara –Opera Square (from 10.00 to 13.00); Vaslui – the Civic Center (from 10.00 to 13.00). On Sunday, April 22, the collection of cars will be presented in the following cities: Buzau – Nicolae Balcescu Blvd. (from 13.00 to 16.00); Iasi – Palas Mall (from 11.00 to 15.00); Negresti Oas – Central Square (from 11.00 to 13.00); Sf. Gheorghe – Bodoc Hotel (from 10.00 to 18.00); Suceava – Iulius Mall (from 10.00 to 14.00).
The events organized by Retrobomil Club Romania have a cultural and sports nature, contributing to maintaining the proper status of the historical cars and to cultivating the hobby to collect and restore them. Retromobil Club Romania currently is the most important association of its kind in Romania, thanks to its members who are making important efforts to restore and maintain historical vehicles included in the national or even world technical and cultural heritage. The club members own cars that were maintained so that they are perfectly working, or which were subject to a restoration process, being original cars attested as historical vehicles. The club has branches in all of the Romanian countries, gathering more than 1,500 members.
Retromobil Club Romania regroups specimens of a certain technical and historical value awarded in various domestic and international competitions, historical cars made between 1899 and 1988. The Club promotes at domestic and international level historical cars made in Romania by the companies ARO, DACIA, TV, MOBRA, CARPATI, OLTCIT and SR.
The activity of the club for more than two decades is a cultural initiative of instructing the new generations on the car history, Romania being among the top ten European countries that introduced the car, and the sixth country where car races have been organized. The club members own more than 3,000 historical cars, of which more than 10% have been made before 1944.
