Inter-ministerial Centennial Committee reconvenes at Gov’t House

The Inter-ministerial Centennial Committee reconvened in a new session at the Government House on Monday.

According to a government press statement, an information note was unveiled on a draft order of the minister of culture for the approval of a guide on the procedure for the selection of events, actions and projects for the anniversary of the December 1, 1918 Greater Union Centennial (1918-2018) and WWI, designed and committed by private legal entities, the organisation and functioning of the boards, as well as the procedure for the settlement of challenges.

The guide contains information on the “eligibility criteria for applicants and projects, the organisation and functioning of boards, the way of analysis and selection, the resolution of appeals, as well as details of the organisation of the selection session”.

“It is worth mentioning that for this session 50 million lei to were proposed to be allocated to private legal entities, out of a total amount of 150,000,000 lei available to the Ministry of Culture and National Identity (MCIN) for events, actions and projects for the anniversary of the December 1, 1918 Greater Union Centennial (1918-2018) and WWI, capped at 5 million lei per project. On March 21, 2018, the Romanian Government approved under an emergency ordinance the legal framework for the proper conduct of projects and events dedicated to the Greater Union Centennial.”

In order to avoid any unclearness regarding the categories of beneficiaries, this piece of legislation provides for the legal possibility of funding projects carried out by non-governmental bodies.

At the same meeting of the Inter-ministerial Committee on Monday, put forth for approval under Government Ordinance No.5/2017 were a list of events, actions and projects with regional /county /local coverage, a list of events, actions and projects of national /international scope for which additional clarifications were requested from public bodies, according to the information provided by the minister of culture and national identity to the Inter-ministerial Committee meeting on March 23, as well as a list of events, events and anniversary projects of the Centennial and WWI with a national/international scope, projects registered with the Ministry of Culture and National Identity after March 23.

Also featuring on the agenda of the Inter-ministerial Centennial Committee was information regarding latest developments in projects related to the Monuments of the Greater Union.
