Keeping the tradition, Romania will participate also this year in the Thessaloniki Book Fair from Greece. The Consulate General of Romania in Thessaloniki and the Hellenic Union in Romania announced that Romania will be present at the Thessaloniki Book Fair, which will be held between May 3 and 6, 2018. The event will be attended by a number of prestigious Romanian personalities who will present works published by the UER Press publishing house of the Hellenic Union in Romania. More specifically, Academician Constantin Balaceanu Stolnici will present the works “Byzantine and post-Byzantine Studies”, the Romanian and Greek editions; journalist and writer Horia Alexandrescu will present the Greek edition of the book “The Olympics of Zappa”, while Univ. Prof. Cosmin Dumitrescu, PhD., President of the Byzantine Cultural Society, will present the work “Anabasis”. It was announced that the event of May 5, 2018 will also be attended by MP Dragos Gabriel Zisopol, who is the President of the Hellenic Union in Romania, as well as by the Consul General of Romania in Thessaloniki, Sabina Madalina Somacescu.
Last year, the event in Greece was organized between May 11 and 14, 2017. Volumes of the Romanian authors in Greece and Greek authors in Romania published by Omonia, Humanitas, TracusArte, Eikon, Vivaldi, Cetatea de Scaun, Revers, Timpul publishing houses and by Editura UERPress Publishing House of the Hellenic Union in Romania, as well as by Justprint, Aiora, Stamoulis Antonios and Zaharopoulos publishing houses from Greece, who published Romanian authors in 2017, have been exhibited at the Romania’s stand hosted by the Pavilion 13 of the Helexpo Exhibition Complex. Volumes focused on the theme “Romanian-Hellenic Cultural Interferences” including original works in Romanian and Greek languages, as well as translations into and from other languages, have been presented by the authors and their guests at the Thessaloniki Book Fair. The presentations took place both at the literary Café of the book fair and at Romania’s stand.
