Europe’s Music – Europe Days at the “Dinu Lipatti” House of Arts

Bucharest’s newest cultural center, “Dinu Lipatti” House of Arts, under the aegis of the Bucharest Municipality, will host, from May 11 to 13, the event entitled “Europe’s Music – Europe Days at the Dinu Lipatti House of Arts”. The event will consist of exhibitions, conferences, recitals and concerts occasioned by celebrating Europe Day on May 9, and will be structured on three coordinates – the Romanian Music Evening, the German and Austrian Music Evening, and the French and Italian Music Evening.

“The beauty and the power of music will bring us together to remind all of us not only about the values on which European Union’s formation was based, but also the fact that we are celebrating 100 years since the Romanians’ Great Union. In fact, May 9 has a double meaning to us, being the date on which , in 1877, the Deputies’ Assembly proclaimed the state independency of Romania by the voice of the historian and politician Mihail Kogalniceanu”, the organizers wrote on the Facebook page of the event.

On Friday, May 11, starting at 19.00, the conference entitled “The Two Europe” will take place, where the Vice President of the Romanian Academy, Mr. Razvan Theodorescu, will present a study on the evolution of the European space from a historical, political, and especially cultural point of view. The evening will end with an extraordinary recital called “Romania, the little Europe”, held by violinist Diana Jipa and pianist Stefan Doniga. The program will include creations signed by Romanian, Bessarabian, Hungarian, German and Jewish composers; the program will honor the great composer and pianist Dinu Lipatti, an emblematic personality of the Romanian and European art.
On Saturday, May 12, starting at 19.00, the “Camerata Regala” Orchestra led by conductor Daniel Jinga, together with violinist Cristina Anghelescu and cellist Octavian Lup, will perform works by W.A. Mozart, J.S. Bach, J. Haydn, J. Strauss and F. Kreisler. It will be the first concert held in the yard of Dinu Lipatti’s house, organized outdoor.

On Sunday, May 13, also starting at 19.00, and also in the yard of the Lipatti House, Symphactory Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Tiberiu Soare, will perform works of the great French and Italian composers Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini and Jules Massenet. Soprano Iulia Isaev and tenor Alin Stoica will perform famous airs from the operas “Carmen” by Georges Bizet and “Faust” by Charles Gounod; in 2018, there will be celebrated 200 years since the latter’s birth.

The informative exhibition “European Union – one history”, and the painting exhibition “Dinu Lipatti – the family, the teachers and the friends” will be accessible for the public during the three days, from 19.00 to 22.00.

The concept of the event called “Europe’s Music – Europe Days” at the “Dinu Lipatti” House of Arts belongs to the director Alice Barb, the founding manager of the “Dinu Lipatti” House of Arts. Access is free, within the limits of the available places.
