Palestinian Ambassador to Romania Fuad Kokaly has been recalled to Ramallah for consultations, according to the embassy of the state of Palestine.
“The Embassy of Palestine confirms that Ambassador Fuad Kokaly has been recalled to Ramallah. He will leave Romania this evening,” the Embassy of Palestine told News.ro.
The decision comes against the backdrop in which Romania, the Czech Republic and Hungary blocked the plan to adopt a joint European Union statement condemning the relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. On Saturday, the Palestinian Authority condemned the position adopted by the three states.
On Saturday, the Foreign Minister announced that the European External Action Service’s proposal for the adoption of a joint European Union statement on some member states’ relocation of embassies from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, Romania being one them, lacks balance and stresses only one element.
Nelu Barbu on Palestinian ambassador’s recall: I don’t know whether the Premier has been informed or not
Government Spokesperson Nelu Barbu stated on Wednesday that he does not know whether the Premier has been informed that Palestinian Ambassador to Romania Fuad Kokaly has been recalled to Ramallah.
“I don’t know the answer to this question. Not while I was at the Government meeting. But I don’t know whether the Premier has been informed or not,” Nelu Barbu stated when asked whether the Foreign Minister or any other Foreign Ministry representatives have informed Viorica Dancila about the Palestinian state’s decision.
