A new edition of the Golden Stag Festival, after the most recent one from 2009, could take place between August 29 and September 2, in Brasov, according to a press release issued by the Romanian Television (TVR).
The representatives of the Romanian Television met on Thursday the local authorities of Brasov to discuss on organizing the Golden Stag International Festival. The meeting was attended by a TVR delegation led by the President and General Manager Doina Gradea, the Brasov Mayor George Scripcaru, and the President of the Brasov County Council, Ioan Andrei Vestea.
At the meeting, the TVR representatives and those of the local authorities established in principle that the event will be made in co-production by the public television, the Brasov Municipality and the Brasov County Council.
Also, the participants in the meeting agreed that the possible period of the festival will be between August 29 and September 2, and TVR will make all the legal steps in order to organize the festival.
In this anniversary year dedicated to Romania’s Centenary and to the festival’s semi-centenary, TVR proposes a special format of the event, with an anniversary gala, two competition days and a gala of the event, according to the press release. The festival will end with a centenary gala, a folkloric show that will bring together the Romanian traditional folkloric music and up-to-date remakes of this musical genre.
The Golden Stag International Festival debuted in 1968 and had 17 editions, the most recent one being organized in 2009. The event has become the most important international music festival organized in Romania, and traditionally, in Brasov, according to the same press release.
Over the years, this festival hosted performances and recitals of stars such as Diana Ross, Amália Rodrigues, Julio Iglesias, Dalida, Sheryl Crow, Tom Jones, Juliette Greco, Vaya con Dios, Coolio, Barbara, Christina Aguilera, Cliff Richard, Kenny Rogers, Ricky Martin, Kelly Family, Patricia Kaas, Gilbert Becaud, Josephine Baker, Toto Cutugno, Enrico Macias, Boy George, James Brown, Kenny Rogers, Ray Charles, UB 40, Scorpions, Pink, Sheryl Crow and many others.
