“The Romanian state institutions must regain Romanians everywhere’s confidence in their country, for this is the only way they could return home and contribute to the development of a strong Romania, with their skills, mentality and experience gathered abroad”, President Klaus Iohannis said in his message on the Day of Romanians Everywhere.
“In the last Sunday of May, we are celebrating the Day of Romanians Everywhere. Regardless if they live in the country or overseas, Romanians have now the occasion to feel close to each other, connected by the same love that they share for their country, the same language and customs. The numerous Romanian diaspora contributes to the promotion of our identity, with each and every Romanian spreading the message of our culture and customs. The Romanian state institutions have the duty to regain Romanians everywhere’s confidence in their country. Only like this, they could return home to contribute to the development of a strong Romania, with their skills, mentality and experience gathered abroad,” underscored the head of the state.
President Iohannis also reminded the words of politician Nicolae Titulescu, in the context in which Romania celebrates the Centenary of the Great Union this year: “In this Year of the Centenary, while facing so many daily challenges, the words of Nicolae Titulescu seem to me more fit than ever: “I cannot see how what the Romanian mind created, what the Romanian mind felt the Romanian energy won’t be able to achieve.”
In marking the Day of Romanians Everywhere in this Year of the Centenary, President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday, May 23, received at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, a group of Romanians who are holding public office in their countries of residence, in order to underscore the importance of their involvement in the communities where they live and to make a first step in creating some informal professionals networks that will promote the exchange of experience and good practices, informed the Presidential Administration.
ForMin Melescanu: It is essential to maintain connection with Romanians everywhere
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Teodor Melescanu, appreciated that maintaining a connection with the Romanians, “wherever they are,” is essential, referring mainly to Romanians outside the country borders, on the Day of Romanians Everywhere.
“On the occasion of the Day of Romanians Everywhere, I want to warmly hail the Romanains who live abroad. This is a special day for all Romanians, wherever they are. Romanians everywhere, regardless if they belong to the traditional communities or they have left the country recently, or ten years ago, of they live to Romania or thousands of kilometers away or are integral part of the Romanian people,” said the head of the Romanian diplomacy in a video message remitted to AGERPRES by MAE.
In this context, Melescanu appreciated that “it is essential to maintain strong and alive the connection with Romanians everywhere.”
“Let’s not forget that each of us, when we are abroad, we are ambassadors of Romania, a vector of promotion of Romania’s image in the world, and we are proud of each and every Romanian that honours us in the world. The Day of Romanians Everywhere represents the best occasion for us to remember that we are pricing together our common values – the Romanian language, traditions and our national symbols,” says the Minister.
He also added that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to contribute to the promotion, as a priority, of the Romanian identity values outside the borders and to take sustained measures to support Romanians everywhere.”
