“Lucian Blaga” University (ULB) of Sibiu will organise, for an entire year, several international conferences, in collaboration with universities from the European Union, including an academic summit, before the European one, due to take place on May 9, 2019, in Sibiu, in which 27 European leaders will take part, according to rector Ioan Bondrea.
“Certainly, the university will be more engaged in organizing preparatory conferences for next year’s summit. An academic summit takes place before a large summit. One month before, next year, we will probably organise an academic summit on the same topics opened and developed during the summit in May, with universities from the European Union,” ULB Sibiu rector, Professor PhD. Ioan Bondrea told a press conference on Wednesday.
The first international manifestation, which precedes the 2009 summit, will take place on June 1 and 2, in Sibiu, namely an international conference where security strategies at the Black Sea will be analyzed, over 60 experts, from six countries, such as Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia, Turkey and the United States. Amongst the participants is George Friedman, the chairman of Geopolitical Futures (United States) and James Carafano, vice-chairman of the Heritage Foundation (United States).
Romania will hold the presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first part of 2019 and our country will host, in Sibiu, the first EU summit, a day after Brexit, in which the future of the community block will be discussed.
