CultMin Ivascu signs contract for creation of Greater Union Monument of 1 December 1918 in Alba Iulia

Culture and National Identity Minister George Ivascu signed on Wednesday a contract for the creation of the Greater Union Monument of 1 December 1918 in Alba Iulia, that will be carried out by sculptor Mihai Buculei.

The Culture and National Identity Ministry (MCIN) mentions that, according to the contract, the sculptor assumes that the monument will be created and completed by no later than 26 November, in time for the festivities marking 100 years since the Greater Union, on 1 December 2018.

The monument will have 22 meters and a weight of 1,350 tonnes.

The contract is worth 10,209,700 lei, the VAT included.

The MCIN will carefully monitor the contract’s execution stages and will offer any necessary legal support, both to the sculptor and local authorities, so that the deadline for completion be observed, in order to be included in the schedule of the events that will take place on 1 December 2018 in the city-symbol of the Greater Union, namely Alba Iulia, according to the source.
