At the 17th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), recently closed, Mastercard celebrated 12 years of partnership with the most prestigious Romanian film festival, which was held in Cluj, between May 25 and June 3. The 2018 TIFF edition has brought 135,000 participants, 227 productions – 178 features and 49 short films from all over the world – and 95,000 tickets sold.
Since 12 years, Mastercard is in the spotlight at TIFF and is actively involved in developing one of the most impressive European film festivals. Every year, Mastercard provides the latest payment technologies to the audience and, together with the organizers, turns the visitors’ participation to the event in unique, priceless moments.
Continuing its tradition, this year, Mastercard has also granted the Audience Award, one of the most important and popular distinctions of the Transilvania International Film Festival. Based on the proposals made by the spectators, who voted in the cinema rooms, after each screening, the most appreciated movie by the film lovers at TIFF, the 2018 edition, was the minimalist thriller The Guilty, directed by Gustav Moller, who will be screened on the Romanian cinemas starting from November.
“TIFF is unique on the more and more recognized stage of the Romanian film festivals, managing to present the most original movies of the moment and crate a truly special atmosphere. Such a promotion of the cinematographic art naturally attracts a beautiful and loyal community of film lovers who expect unique experiences during the festival. We are excited that we could provide the film lovers with these experiences through the partnership between Mastercard and TIFF. Being part of this unique cinematographic universe since 12 years ago, Mastercard supports the film lovers through innovative and quick payment solutions, contributing to the unforgettable experience of the festival through the surprises it prepared also for this edition” stated Ada Iftodi, Marketing Manager of Mastercard Romania.
“The Audience Award is very important in the TIFF Universe and we are very excited to have a traditional partner that understands this and joins us for so many years. The 17th TIFF edition ended with new records in terms of the number of spectators, tickets sold, sold-out screenings, and, as we believe, in terms of stories about the original experiences. Mastercard is one of the partners who help us make these things possible, and we are looking forward the 2019 edition of the festival, when we hope we’ll be able to surprise the film lovers once again” stated Cristian Hordila, TIFF Festival Manager.
