Russian Ambassador robbed in Sibiu while watching a theater play

The Russian Ambassador in Bucharest, Valery Kuzmin, was left without his wallet while he was participating at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, together with his wife; the wallet was stolen from his pocket, according to the MEDIAFAX correspondent.

Sources from the investigators stated for the MEDIAFAX correspondent that the wallet of the Russian Ambassador Valery Kuzmin was stolen while he was watching a theater play together with his wife, in the Big Square from Sibiu, on Saturday evening, around 21.30.

The Ambassador filed a complaint and said that, besides the amount of money, he was also left without a diplomatic card.

The same sources stated that the Ambassador had Romanian and foreign currency in his wallet, totaling approximatively USD 500.

Asked about this theft, the representatives of the Sibiu Police said that there have been five complaints regarding theft deeds during the weekend, and the thieves took mobile phones and wallets.

“From June 8 to 10, the Sibiu Police registered 5 complaints related to theft deeds (mobile phones and wallets). Police officers of the Criminal Investigations Office, under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sibiu Court, are carrying out activities in order to identify the authors. Since the author is unknown in these cases, the data of the investigation cannot be disclosed to the public” stated the Sibiu Police Spokesperson, Elena Welter.
