The National Bank of Romania (BNR) recorded a profit worth 186.715 million lei in 2017, increasing by 50 percent compared to 2016, Governor of the BNR Mugur Isarescu told the presentation conference of the annual report of the BNR.
According to the Governor’s presentation, 80 percent of the profit, namely 149.372 million lei has been transferred to the state budget. Out of the BNR profit, worth 37.343 million lei, 60 percent went to the increase of the statutory reserves, respectively 22.406 million lei.
According to the presentation, the results of the foreign reserve management activity represent the main source of the positive financial result of the BNR and have been obtained in an external climate characterized by low yield. The structure of foreign exchange reserves at the end of last year was the following: 65.1 percent euro, 18.2 percent US dollars, 16.6 percent other currencies.
