MApN: 190 servicemen intervene in last 48 hours in support of population in areas affected by rainfall

Approximately 190 servicemen with 15 pieces of support equipment have intervened in the last 48 hours, at the request of the central and local authorities with attributions in emergency situations interventions, in the counties of Bacau, Brasov, Buzau and Covasna to support the population in the areas affected by heavy rainfall and for containing the effects produced by the meteorological and hydrological phenomena.

According to a press release issued  on Sunday, the personnel of the National Defence Ministry are currently on two intervention missions. Thus, in Crevelesti locality, Buzau county, 40 servicemen with the 3rd Battalion Genius is operating with two pieces of technical equipment in order to unclog the drinking water dam. In Covasna county, 17 servicemen with two technical capabilities belonging to the 5th Battalion Air-Land Missiles in Buzau are operating in Valcele locality and four servicemen with one piece of equipment in Lunca Marcusului, to support people affected by floods and to strengthen the defence dams. According to the press release, in the regions under the hydro-meteorological warning codes, the National Defence Ministry has permanently kept almost 4,000 servicemen ready for intervention (of whom 2,400 can urgently intervene) and 670 technical means to act in support of the population affected by natural calamities, at the request of the central or local authorities with attributions in emergency situations interventions.
