Mircea Negulescu arrived on Monday at the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ) to take a copy of the file, stating that he will be his own defender, that he doesn’t have a lawyer and that he is ready for a possible confrontation with Cosma family.
“I requested some copies to be able to defend myself. No (I didn’t hire a lawyer – e.n.). I will be my own defender, yes”, Mircea Negulescu stated when exiting the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
Asked if he is ready for a confrontation with Cosma family, Mircea Negulescu answered affirmatively. Also asked to say if he will be nervous when he will see Andreea Cosma, the prosecutor said: “No, why should I be?”.
The department for prosecutors related to disciplinary matters of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) suspended the judgement of the disciplinary actions of the Judicial Inspection against the former head of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) Ploiesti, Lucian Onea, and against prosecutors Mircea Negulescu and Alfred Savu until the cases in which they are involved will be solved. The investigation started after former MP Vlad Cosma revealed several recordings with the two magistrates, accusing them of falsifying the evidence and forcing the witnesses to make various statements. The General Prosecutor’s Office announced that the head of DNA Ploiesti, Lucian Onea, and Mircea Negulescu are criminally investigated being accused of improper participation, under the form of complicity, to the offense consisting of misleading the judicial bodies.
