NNDKP, one of the leading law firms on the legal market here, will soon celebrate 30 years of activity. How you would assess this lapse of time from the point of view of challenges, accomplishments and gained experience?
NNDKP is living proof of a success story as an independent elite law firm. My life and business partner, Mrs. Manuela Nestor, and I embarked on a special journey almost 30 years ago and looking where we are now, we could not be prouder of what NNDKP has become: one of the largest and most respected business legal services providers to domestic and international companies, financial institutions and entrepreneurs.
Ever since the fall of the communist regime we have been involved in landmark projects and complex market transactions.. It was not an easy journey, but the hard work, accomplishments and experience gained during the past decades are nowadays transposed in a 20+ practice areas that ensure specialized services across the business law spectrum. Our team, the largest on the Romanian legal market, has over 160 lawyers and consultants equipped to handle the most sophisticated issues for our clients. Furthermore, NNDKP was named “Law Firm of the Year in Romania” by Chambers Europe – four times out of nine editions and is ranked as a top-tier law firm by leading international legal guides and publications.
What are the key ingredients in the recipe of success and reputation constantly scored and consolidated by your firm in such a dynamic and challenging business environment and market?
If I had to summarize it in one word, I would say that the key ingredient in our success and reputation is simply this: people. Our goal has always been to attract ambitious and dedicated young professionals who desire to gain top legal skills and expertise and I am proud to say that we have achieved that and continue to do so. The quality of our team members, the structure of the firm and the market context have provided in almost 30 years of activity the proper environment for the professional training and development of several generations of lawyers who demonstrated, one after another, that they have the necessary resources and ability to tailor our approach to the constant changes in the domestic and international markets.
I believe this was the best investment made by our firm in such a dynamic and challenging business environment and I am confident that the young lawyers who are currently following the same path will contribute with the same dedication to the furtherance and development of our firm.
NNDKP has a very rich and diversified portfolio regarding the areas of practice. What are the strengths of this company in an extremely competitive law market?
Over the past two decades, NNDKP has been constantly striving to use skill and innovation in order to provide more effective and tailored advice to our clients. We were the first Romanian law firm to provide IP services, commonly associated with boutique firms, through NNDKP IP, as well as built-in legal & tax solutions, through NNDKP Tax Advisory Services. In 2016, we initiated a strategic alliance with Transfer Pricing Services SRL (TPS), a leading Romanian independent advisory firm offering highly specialized transfer pricing consultancy, thus expanding our expertise in the tax area.
NNDKP was also the first to expand outside Bucharest in order to provide local advice that better serves its clients’ operations across Romania. We now have five offices across Romania, including Bucharest (headquarters) and four other offices in Timisoara, Brasov, Craiova and Cluj-Napoca, each covering the entire region where it is located.
In one sentence, we combine our services, thus providing our clients with sound business understanding, efficient solutions and integrated legal & tax expertise!
What do you intend to do further in terms of development strategy to consolidate NNDKP’s good performance and prestige on the market?
It is not about what we intend to do, but about what we have already been doing for years. By always seeking to expand our expertise and by following the most recent trends developed by the international community, U.S. companies, we have brought close to us a series of vectors to design together new business development strategies:
- Cornerstone Communications, the first CEE-focused investors relations company, (co-founded by Ludwik Sobolewski, the former CEO and President of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and former CEO of Bucharest Stock Exchange), together with whom we act in consonance, aiming to facilitate the access to our specific but compatible services, and turning business opportunities into concrete projects for our clients.
- Concilium Consulting, a financial services advisory firm for private companies and the public sector, together with whom we aim to provide integrated consulting, legal and tax services to companies, lenders and investors, tailored to their business needs.
Our excellent performance and prestige on the market keep us motivated in our journey towards continuing success.
How would you characterize NNDKP’s team in Romania in three words?
Passion, Efficiency, Performance.
