Cristian Mandeal will conduct 100 cellists on the Athenaeum stage for Romania 100

On Wednesday, July 11, starting at 19.30, on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, the Violoncellissimo ensemble created and led by professor and cellist Marin Cazacu will open the 7th edition of the “Vara Magica” International Festival (“Magic Summer” International Festival – e.n.), in an extra-extended formula, consisting of no less than 100 cellists from all over the country.

The concert will be conducted by conductor Cristian Mandeal and represents the way in which the Romanian cello school celebrates Romania’s Centenary; cellists from all over Romania and of all ages will pay a tribute over the time to the generations of illustrious professors who formed them professionally.

The program will be spectacular and will include surprising arrangements for the instrument considered to be the closest to the human voice. Cristian Mandeal, the most internationally acclaimed Romanian conductor, will offer premiere versions of this repertoire, along with his friends, members of the Violoncellissimo ensemble.

Being a real artistic attraction, Violoncellissimo, an ensemble consisting of musicians who already have a successful career on the stages of the world, now in an orchestra formula, will amaze the audience once again with new songs, from Ravel’s Bolero to Bachianas Braseileras by Villa Lobos, or Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, in a unique artistic event, not to be missed!
