Laura Codruta Kovesi: I will not resign. The managerial attributions have not been delegated

The DNA Chief-Prosecutor aura Codruta Kovesi stated on Friday for MEDIAFAX that she will not resign and that the managerial attributions have not been delegated, in the context of the Constitutional Court’s decision on the procedure related to her dismissal by President Klaus Iohannis.

“I will not resign. The managerial attributions have not been delegated and they are exerted according t the law” was Laura Codruta Kovesi’s answer.

The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) decided at the beginning of June, with a majority vote, that there is a legal conflict of a constitutional nature between the Justice Minister and the Romanian President, caused by the refusal of the head of state to follow the proposal to dismiss the Chief-Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate, Laura Codruta Kovesi.

The Constitutional Court stated in the official release on the decision establishing the institutional conflict between the President and the Justice Minister, that the head of state has to issue the dismissal decree regarding the Chief-Prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate, Laura Codruta Kovesi.
