Romania’s team won the second edition of the Baseball Festival, which was held on Saturday in the Tei Students Complex in Bucharest.
Romania defeated the Republic of Moldova’s team in the final event with a score of 11-7.
In the other matches of the All Star Game, Romania defeated the US team, made up of servicemen stationed in our country, with a score of 11-3, Moldova surpassed Bulgaria with a score of 7-3, while Bulgaria lost to the US team, with the score of 0-9.
Baseball in 5 was launched in Romania, as a first, on this occasion, which is “a simplified gameplay in which you have the baseball passion, but without the ground, equipment obligations and complicated rules. A sort of street baseball, very close to childhood games,” according to the organizers. Five teams participated, namely Atletico Alexandria, Palestra Bucuresti, CSS No. 6 Bucharest, Red Scorpions Bucharest, CSS Alexandria.
Among the partners of the Romanian Baseball Federation and the Softball, there were also the US Embassy to Romania, the supporter of the Jackie Robinson Project. Jackie Robinson, the first black baseball player, who entered the Ebbets field in Brooklyn, New York, breaking the barriers of racial discrimination. Jackie Robinson debuted for the Brooklyn Dodgers team in 1947. He was noted as an exceptional player and has played in the Major League Baseball (MLB), wearing No. 42. The MLB retired his uniform number 42 across all major league team as a sign of respect. Jackie Robinson has become a name of reference in the fight for equality, racial discrimination, and promoting diversity and tolerance.
