The fastest cars in Romania will compete in Sinaia

This weekend, Sinaia will host the “Sinaia 2018 Trophy” – the Dunlop National Coast Speed Championship, being the only street route in the championship. Some of the fastest cars in Romania will compete on the long 3-kilometer route, which goes from Casino Sinaia to Telegondola.

Between July 21-22, 2018, the second part of the season will be opened on the roads of Sinaia in the National Coast Speed Championship. Reaching its 10th edition, “Sinaia Trophy” is the fifth round of the current season of the national competition organized by the Romanian Sports Motoring Federation. The Sinaia 2018 Trophy runs under the aegis of the Romanian Sports Motoring Federation and is organized by the Sinaia Municipality and the Carpati Sinaia Sports Club.

Considered to be the most special round of the season, totally running on urban roads, the Sinaia competition will be attended by more than 60 pilots who enrolled for the starting line; we mention that two renowned rally pilots, former national champions, announced that they will participate. One of them is the former professional world boxing champion Mihai Leu, who will make a full season at the coast speed championship, with Ferrari 458 Challenge. Being the winner of the national rally title in 2003, he ranks fifth in the overall ranking, after the first four rounds, with 36 points.

The legendary Romanian pilot Constantin Aur – known as “Titi Aur” – who was eight times the national rally champion (a record number of titles won), can also be seen on the streets of the famous resort on Prahova Valley. This year, he came back in the rally championship, but he is also participating in the coast speed competition with Skoda Fabia, the Sinaia Trophy being the second round of the current season in which he will compete, after the inaugural one.

The competition is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday. According to the already announced schedule, the competition will take place on a route with the following features: the place of the competition – Sinaia, the road section – Manastirii Street, Furnica, Calea Codrului, the New Road of Cota 1400; length – 3015.2 m, maximum inclination – 8%, the difference of level – 163.3 m, the place of the starting line – the crossroads between Octavian Goga Street, Manastirii Street and Eroilor Street; the place of the arrival – the crossroads between Calea Codrului Street and The New Road of Cota 1400+260. For the smooth running of the competition, the local authorities announced that road traffic restrictions will be necessary this weekend, and alternative routs are established in order to avoid traffic jam.
