The first Code for All global summit will be held in Romania . All the civic tech leaders in the world will meet in Bucharest in October

Code for Romania, part of the international network of Code for All organizations, will host the first meeting of the design and technology specialists dedicated to the projects in the civic matter. The center of the civic tech world for five days, “The Heroes of Tech” Global Summit, will take place between October 8 and 12, 2018, and will bring together representatives from more than 20 countries on all the continents.

“Organizing the first Code 4 All Global Summit in Romania is a huge recognition of our role in the civic tech field, given that such projects worth tens of millions of dollars at global level. Thousands of specialists in fields like development, IT, communication, design, research and project management have constantly invested their time and skills to produce key changes in their communities. The Code for All: The Heroes of Tech Global Summit is the event that must be attended this autumn by any organization that is willing to contribute to a better society” stated Bogdan Ivanel, CEO of Code for Romania.

The summit aims at establishing the development strategies in the field for the coming years, with a practical and applied focus, for which reason he agenda includes sessions of presentations and panels of discussions, workshops and working groups, as well as related special events, everything in an interactive format that stimulates the transfer of knowledge between the participating countries and generates concrete solutions to contribute to a better society. The event will be a unique connecting and informing experience for all the participants, as well as an excellent opportunity for networking and for generating local and international impact projects.

 

Prestigious guests, international participation

 

The event will be attended by Justin Arenstein, Head of Code for Africa, who, with the help of technology and digital instruments, helps to transform the African journalistic environment, providing people with access to digital instruments and Media education, as well as by Alma Rangel, Codeando Mexico, who will speak about the global scaling of the ecosystem for the natural disaster management, developed after the earthquake in Mexico.

Other guests who will attend the event are: Micah Sifry, from Civic Hall New York; Greg Kempe from OpenUp South Africa; Marnie Webb, one of the TechSoup Global leaders; Betsy Beaumon, Chairman of Benetech, Lia Milito, Civic Hall Toronto, and Lina Patel, Code for Australia.

The members of the Code for All world network, along with other civic tech organizations and their institutional partners and not only, as well as representatives of the TechSoup Global, Civic Hall, Hivos, TransparenCEE, the ePaństwo Foundation, will come to Bucharest in October – the list will be updated on the event’s website as other organizations will confirm their presence at the event.

“The Heroes of Tech” will gather participants from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Ghana, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Moldova, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa, Taiwan, UK ad USA. The list continues to be updated.
