Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Friday appealed to President Klaus Iohannis to “change his attitude in accordance with his constitutional prerogatives, so as not to create uncertainty,” thus referring to the appointment of the members of the Government.
“The Government’s work is a team one and each of the ministers plays an important role, decisive in the achievement of the good results citizens expect from us. Unfortunately, we all notice that Mr President Iohannis is doing everything possible to block the Government’s activity in two vital areas. We believe that such political actions are inappropriate, especially at this time when we are preparing for the presidency of the Council of the EU and, at the same time, the year we celebrate the Centennial. This would be the time to enjoy consensus, to enjoy understanding, tranquility, 100 years on since the Greater Union. I publicly call on President Iohannis to change his attitude in accordance with the constitutional prerogatives, so as not to create uncertainty in two such important areas. I am convinced that the Romanians need unity and state institutions that function coherently and find solutions that best meet the needs of the citizens,” the prime minister said at Victoria Palace at the beginning of the Executive sitting.
