Colosseum Mall starts construction

The construction of Colosseum Mall has begun as part of the expansion plan of Colosseum Centre. Located in district 1 of Bucharest and open since 2011, Colosseum is expanding following the last years of increased business and improved market conditions.

‘We are pleased to announce that we have finalized the selection process of the construction company for the mall and that the works started this month. Together with our partners, we are targeting the opening of Colosseum Mall towards the end of next year”, said Mihai Dinu, General Manager Colosseum.

The investment of €30 million will expand the existing retail scheme by the end of 2019 up to a total of 54,500 square meters of GLA, creating a mixed-use development with leisure, commercial and office.

“The last years we have witnessed the growth of demand in the area due to the large number of residential projects completed with more being constructed. This will only further increase the demand and Colosseum Mall is best placed to take advantage of it”, Mihai Dinu added.

Alongside the current tenants including Carrefour, Leroy Merlin, Jysk, Altex, LC Waikiki, Sport Vision and Pepco, Colosseum has signed the Romanian multiplex cinema Happy Cinema and the biggest fitness operator in Romania World Class to take spaces above the food court of Colosseum Mall.

The mix of tenants, to include multiple fashion stores, entertainment and a new food court experience, will create a large, modern shopping destination in Bucharest. In addition, Colosseum Mall will offer the community a modern, social hub for shopping & leisure for the residents of the North – West of Bucharest and the surrounding areas.

The construction will be undertaken by Axa Trans Construct S.R.L., chosen as General Contractor after a selection process.
