The purchasing power among Romanian employees has risen in real terms in the past two years by 20.3pct, Labor Minister Marius Budai said on Saturday at a meeting of Social Dialogue Commission in Botosani.

According to him, net average earning was 28.5pct higher in November 2018 than in November 2016, while the consumer price index grew by 6.8pct over the same period.

The minister claims that the state social insurance pension has increased in real terms by 18.6pct over the past two years, taking into account that the average pension level increased by 26.7pct and the consumer price index was 6.8pct.

“I do not say that pensions or wages have increased enough, but I say that we are doing everything we can and I say that since we took power we have been on the rise,” the labor minister said, adding that the indicators are established by the National Institute of Statistics and Eurostat.
