European Commission (EC) Representation in Bucharest posted on its Facebook page fragments from a study on vitamin D, after PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea announced a program by which the vitamin is granted to children for free. According to the study, food rich in vitamin D is especially recommended during the winter, and research on the nutrition within the vulnerable groups of population is required, in order to make recommendations on the nutrition.
“Researchers recommend a diet rich in vitamin D, especially during the winter, which should include eggs, fatty fish and mushrooms”, according to a study funded by European Union that was published in 2017, invoked by the EC Representation.
“We must conduct research on the nutrition within the vulnerable groups of population in order to develop specific recommendations for the life stages on the nutrient intake”, stated the project coordinator Mairead Kiely speaking about the future research directions.
The Chairman of the Social Democrat Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea stated on Sunday, after the meeting of the party’s Executive Committee, that he wants to reduce the budgets of the intelligence services and to finance a program by which vitamin D is granted to children for free, and if the Government will not implement this reduction, Parliament will do it.
“I asked them to analyze the amounts allocated to the secret services. I believe that some important amounts can be re-allocated from here to the Health system, for instance. I am thinking to a program by which vitamin D is granted for free to all the children in Romania, this is also a national security program, a diabetes program, and the Prime Minister, together with the Minister in charge, said they will see if they can make this change within the Government; if not, I will surely do it in the Parliament, with amendments”, Dragnea stated.
Firea: The side effects of vitamin D(ragnea) – 25% less money for Bucharest’s public transport
Bucharest Mayor Gabriela Firea wrote on “the side effects of vitamin D(ragnea): 25% less money for Bucharest’s public transport” and criticizes the district mayors who “applaud the cutting of the Bucharest Municipality’s budget”.
Despite all the abusive obstacles caused by ungrounded appeals, we have bought 400 new Euro 6 buses in two years. This year, we will buy 100 electric buses, 400 hybrid and GNC buses, 100 trolleybuses and 100 trams. For absolutely all Bucharest people, from all the 6 districts of Bucharest. It is profoundly shameful that certain district mayors applaud the cutting of the Bucharest Municipality’s budget. This means that they agree that Bucharest people shouldn’t benefit from civilized transport conditions, the modernization of the old heating neatwork, the endowment of the 20 hospitals, etc.”, Firea claims on her Facebook page.
She even posted an image on which it’s written: “The side effects of vitamin D(ragnea): 25% less money for Bucharest’s public transport”, ironizing the intention of the PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea to grant vitamin D to children for free.
General Mayor Gabriela Firea stated on Monday that she invites Liviu Dragnea to a debate on the budget, “with figures and evidence on the table”, to any television that is “friendly to him”. “He cut almost 25% of the Bucharest Municipality’s budget and he is innocently saying that Bucharest people will not be affected, because he supplemented the money distribution to the districts. This is a great manipulation”, the General Mayor said.
In reply, the 6th District Mayor Gabriel Mutu stated that he and his colleagues from the other districts are willing to meet her in a debate, appreciating that “we shouldn’t turn the discussion on the budget into a political one, aiming at pointless reckoning”.
On Monday afternoon, Gabriela Firea sent a new message to Liviu Dragnea, urging him to be a man and come to a debate with her on any television, in a live TV show.
