National Union for the Progress of Romania (UNPR) President Gabriel Oprea says that the party had more than 500,000 members and he expects all party members who left after his resignation to return. He claims that the party is undergoing a process of reconstruction. “We will analyse much more carefully whom we ally with. We seek to be wiser, we will not do deals with whomsoever and we will not give our word to whomsoever,” Oprea added.
“We are fighting for the European Parliament elections; our objective is to behave honourably. However, our most important objectives are next year’s local and parliamentary elections. We plan to win more than 10 percent in the local elections, and the same in the parliamentary elections,” the UNPR President stated on Saturday at the Regional Summit of UNPR branches from the West Banat Region.
Gabriel Oprea had a message for those who left the party after the UNPR left the Government.
“UNPR had more than 500,000 members. We are waiting for them to return home, all those who chose to withdraw from politics after I resigned. If they trust me, us, they should come back. All Romanian patriots who love the country, who hate traitors, and who do not accept Romania being denigrated and humiliated should join us. (…) I have great expectations from reservists because I always stood by their side, they all know how hard I fought for them and they know I will continue to do so. UNPR has prepared projects that would continue to support servicemen, police officers, firefighters and gendarmes, both active and in reserve. These projects concern the pensions, rights and status of this professional category. In order to implement them, the UNPR must be in Parliament,” Oprea claimed.
Gabriel Oprea said that the UNPR is currently undergoing an accelerated process of reconstruction.
“We will analyse much more carefully whom we ally with. We seek to be wiser, we will not do deals with whomsoever and we will not give our word to whomsoever,” Oprea added.
The Regional Summit of UNPR branches from the West Banat Region took place on Saturday, in Timisoara, and brought together the representatives of the county branches of Timis, Arad, Caras-Severin, Hunedoara and Mehedinti.
