Candidates for the helm of the Standing Electoral Authority heard by the joint parliamentary committees. PSD supports Constantin-Florin Mituletu-Buica

The candidates for the helm of the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP)  will be heard today by the joint House and Senate Judiciary Committees.

On Monday, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader also announced that Mircea Draghici is no longer PSD’s nomination for the helm of the Standing Electoral Authority. Draghici is set to handle the election campaigns, while Constantin-Florin Mituletu-Buica will be nominated by the PSD for that office.

“The Premier and I, we’ve briefly informed our colleagues. Following Mr Codrin Stefanescu’s discussion with Mircea Draghici over the weekend, Mr Draghici was asked to coordinate PSD’s national campaigns, so he has given up on the office of head of the AEP. We offer our support to a man from within the AEP, its current Secretary General, Mr Mituletu,” Liviu Dragnea stated.

Constantin-Florin Mituletu-Buica has been Secretary General of the AEP since January 2018. Prior to that, he was AEP Vice President since 2015.

In 2014, Mituletu was personal adviser to the Minister for Social Dialogue.

The candidates for the helm of the AEP will be heard on Tuesday by the joint House and Senate Judiciary Committees.

PSD’s Executive Committee had decided last Tuesday that PSD Treasurer Mircea Draghici, previously nominated by Premier Viorica Dancila as Transport Minister, should be nominated for President of the AEP, after AEP President Daniel Barbu (ALDE) resigned.

AEP President Daniel Barbu resigned last Monday, in order to run in the European Parliament elections. He stated for MEDIAFAX that his candidacy is not a certainty but that he wanted to avoid a case of “ethical incompatibility.”
