PM Viorica Dancila accused President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday, at the beginning of the Government’s meeting, that by challenging the budget to the Constitutional Court (CCR), he does everything he can to prevent Romania’s development, and asked herself if the President is afraid that this development budget will result in too many investments.
“I see that the President does everything he can to prevent Romania’s development, by continuing the blockage he is practicing for several months against the Executive, by challenging the budget to CCR. This unprecedented action denotes a lack of responsibility which can affect Romania’s credibility and implicitly the macroeconomic indicators of the country”, Dancila stated.
Prime Minister said that by this behavior, the President shows he is not interested in increasing the people’s incomes, or increasing the investments, or improving the medical act, or increasing the access to education, but only in his electoral campaign.
“It is inconceivable why the President has chosen to block, by this action, the increase of the children’s allowances, although a few days ago he was claiming this. I wonder when is he saying the truth? When he makes political campaign statements, or when he announces that he blocked the budget? Or is the President afraid that this development budget will result in too many investments?”, Viorica Dancila added.
She said that “the reasons invoked by the President for blocking the national budget have no support in reality”, which is proven by the “official figures and the governance facts”.
“The only concern of the President is the electoral campaign in which he entered for some time, and his behavior has nothing to do with the interest of Romanians and Romania”, Dancila also stated.
The notification submitted by President Klaus Iohannis to the Constitutional Court on the 2019 State Budget will be debated on March 6. President Iohannis complained about the fact that the Budget Law breaches the Fundamental Law by both the manner in which it has been adopted and its normative content.
Romanian Presidency at EU Council completed 62 files
The Romanian Presidency at the EU Council completed 62 files within the first two months since taking over the mandate, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced on Wednesday, in the opening of the Gov’t sitting, mentioning that she will widely present next week Romania’s results in this area.
“A few months ago, the President stated that Romania is not ready to exercise the rotating Presidency of the EU Council. However, the reality proved that Romania registers remarkable results in its tenure, with the activity of our team being commended by the European partners,” the Executive head stated.
Thus, she highlighted that, in almost two months since taking over the mandate, “the Romanian Presidency at the EU Council completed not less than 62 files, of which 34 already have been approved by the ambassadors of the member states.”
“We have an intense activity and we will continue the tight cooperation with the European Parliament, with the European Commission, with the member states, in order to find the best solutions for the future of the European Union,” she added.
Viorica Dancila also stated that she will make a wide presentation of these results.
“Next week, I will present widely before everyone, in a press statement, the exceptional results that the Government achieved in these two months of tenure,” the PM stated.
